Former NCT member Taeil’s appeal has been dismissed for gang rape; sentence upheld as 3 years and 6 months in prison.

Taeil (real name Moon Taeil), formerly of the group NCT , was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison on charges of sexual assault.

According to legal circles on the 27th, the Supreme Court’s 1st Division (Chief Justice Seo Kyung-hwan) confirmed the original sentence for Taeil and his friends Lee and Hong, who were indicted on charges of special quasi-rape under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act,.

Last June, Taeil was booked by the police on charges of gang-raping a foreign woman he was drinking with in Itaewon, Seoul, after taking her to the residence of one of the defendants.

The first trial court sentenced Taeil and three others to three years and six months in prison in July of this year. They were also ordered to complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program and were banned from working at any child or youth-related institution for five years.

Following the prison sentences, the court issued an arrest warrant, citing the risk of the defendants fleeing, and placed Taeil in custody.

The second trial also ruled in October that this ruling was not problematic and dismissed their appeal. Taeil and others appealed again, but the Supreme Court ruled that the grounds for the appeal were unlawful and dismissed the appeal.

He debuted as a member of the group NCT U in 2016 and was a member of NCT 127.

He left the group in August of the previous year after it was revealed that he had been accused of a sexual assault case, and his exclusive contract with his agency SM Entertainment was terminated in October of the same year.

After Taeil’s departure, NCT 127 was reorganized as an eight-member group with Taeyong, Johnny, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo, Mark, and Haechan.
