The President of RTVE is set to appear before the Joint Parliamentary Control Committee of the Congress and the Senate on November 27 at 16:00 CET to outline the broadcaster\u2019s position on Eurovision 2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The appearance is in response to an initiative by Senator Ram\u00f3n Morales Quesada (PSOE), who has requested to know RTVE’s “official position” at the upcoming European Broadcasting Union (EBU) Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This moment comes at a particularly tense time: RTVE has made its participation in Eurovision 2026 contingent on the EBU’s decision regarding Israel’s continued participation in the festival. The president of RTVE has previously argued that his decision is not based on partisan criteria, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
but rather on ethical and human rights considerations, emphasizing that in the face of genocide in Gaza, RTVE must take a stand to demonstrate its responsibility as one of the most important broadcasters within the EBU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As if this weren’t enough, Jos\u00e9 Pablo has denounced the fact that he hasn’t been contacted by ORF, the broadcaster that organizes the festival, to negotiate Spain’s continued participation, which, according to him, demonstrates a lack of dialogue and commitment to all members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
