As revealed by The Recording Academy today, November 8th. Global Girl Group Katseye has received its very first Grammy nominations.
The first category Katseye is nominated in is Best New Artist, as described by the Recording Academy: “This category recognises an artist whose eligibility-year release(s) achieved a breakthrough into the public consciousness and notably impacted the musical landscape.
Other nominees include: Olivia Dean, Indie band The Marias, TikTok Star turned Pop Star Addison Rae, sombr, Leon Thomas, Ex-Hype House Member Alex Warren and Lola Young.
This year, Katseye made a huge breakthrough with the release of their second EP, Beautiful Chaos and singles “Gnarly” and “Gabriela”.
They also were featured in the l Gap Better In Denim campaign dancing original choreography to Kelis’s “Milkshake”, the dance went viral across social media and now has over 900k videos created on TikTok alone.
The second nomination Katseye received was “Gabreia” for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance which, according to The Recording Academy, is “For new vocal or instrumental duo/group or collaborative pop recordings. Singles or Tracks only.”.
“Gabreia” mixes contemporary pop but with a Latin twist; Katseye member Daniela even sang the bridge in Spanish. “Gabrela” is produced by Andrew Watt and John Ryan and written by Ali Tamposi, Andrew Watt, Charlotte Aitchison or also known as Pop Star Charli XCX, John Ryan and Sara Schell.
The demo has been floating around the music industry for at least 7 years. It was reportedly a demo for Rita Ora and Anitta. Then got pitched to other Girl Groups such as the British Girl Group. It eventually got purchased by HYBE and UMG for Katseye.

KATSEYE is a Global Girl Group based in Los Angeles. The group is composed of six members: Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, and Yoonchae. With members from the Philippines, South Korea, Switzerland, and the United States
The group was formed through the 2023 Survival Show Dream Academy, a collaboration between Hybe and Geffen Records. The group’s formation process was later chronicled in the Netflix docuseries Popstar Academy: Katseye, which recounted the audition process, intensive training, and formation of the group.
The group includes the first Indian, Filipina, Latina, and Black artists to be signed under any Hybe Label: Lara, Sophia, Daniela, and Manon, respectively. Musically, Katseye has cited The Pussycat Dolls, Spice Girls, and LE SSERAFIM as influences.
The 2026 GRAMMYS take place Sunday, Feb. 1, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, broadcasting live on the CBS Television Network and streaming live and on demand on Paramount+.
